what is Out of the Clay?

Out of the Clay is a non-profit, faith-based organization with a heart for the hurting. We are deeply rooted in the truth that with Christ, all things are possible. We also believe that some of the greatest weapons against pain are community and creativity. We aim to provide a place with tools and supplies necessary for various forms of arts and crafts to be available at no expense for people to come in and just begin to make. We pray that the rooms of OOTC will be full of people who find themselves all too easily labeled and overlooked by society. People who are depressed and hurting and looking for a way out, kids who have been abused, teenagers who are suicidal, formerly incarcerated women, trafficking victims, addicts. We want to combat the isolation and idleness that fuels the lies that we are unloved, unworthy and unforgiven. We believe OOTC can offer an alternative to that and instead echo the love, grace, and freedom found in Jesus Christ.

What exactly does this all look like? If you're a maker, think of your dream supply closet!! Everyone that comes in and makes will also be given the opportunity to share their stories and sell what they've made, because we all know how incredible it is when you see people loving the things you’ve made— especially when you’ve made it with hands that you once thought were useless.

Stacy MacDonald, Owner and Designer of made. as well as the Founder of OOTC says, " For me, made. has been the greatest catalyst out of years of depression, self harm, and self loathing. Everything from using my hands to my process for making jewelry has become this beautiful analogy of how Christ pulls us out of the miry clay. If stones that have been buried since creation can now be found and cleaned and turned into something for others, how much greater is His plan for me?! For us! This is the idea that I hope resonates throughout Out of the Clay."

"He lifted me out of the horrible pit, out of the miry clay; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods." - Psalm 40:2-4
